Most of our poultry came in the mail today. We are still waiting on our Silver Appleyard ducks, and Shetland geese.
Here are some Cayuga/Silver Appleyard/Buff crosses we incubated ourselves. They are almost all black like a Cayuga (they all had Cayuga mothers) but some of them have a yellow patch on their breast and one of them is all yellow with some black feathers.
Saxony ducks are on the American Livestock Breeds Conservatory List. They are heavy weight size. The ducks and the geese are from Holderread Waterfowl Farm.
The Embden geese kept showing me their butts!
We are trying some new breeds this season: white Rocks, Speakled Sussex and Cochins. The Cochins are supposed to be great natural broodies. We shall see. We liked the silkies so much we got a few more, got my Black Jersey Giants, more Buckeye and Americana males to keep our lines from getting inbred and some Guinea keets for fun.
